A year ago, when high school theater teacher Kyle Holmes was writing a new musical, “Ranked,” with composer and lyricist David Taylor Gomes, people told him it was “too far-fetched,” he recalls in an email. Now, the UC Davis Department of Theatre and Dance mounts a new production of “Ranked” as part of its Ground and Field Theatre Festival.
